Members of our community have faced huge personal and professional challenges during the COVID-19 response. Thank you for all that you do on the front lines. This episode of the Physician Grind Podcast is part of a series where physicians share how his or her practice has changed in the COVID-19 era.

At first, COVID seemed so far away. Then it started creeping closer and the magnitude of the pandemic revealed itself. Hospitals braced for the impending wave of patients. In this episode of the Physician Grind Podcast Dr. Basrai shares the feeling of anticipation as local hospitals nervously waited for the wave of COVID patients to hit them.

Emergency medicine has been hit hard by COVID-19. We train to be in the trenches, we train for nearly anything. But it's hard to train for a pandemic. This week, and always, we honor all of our colleagues in healthcare and on the frontlines as essential workers who have died of COVID-19.

We are stronger together. Please reach out if you have a story to share or just want to talk. Take care and stay safe.

Most importantly, if you are having thoughts of suicide, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 (TALK) or go to SpeakingOfSuicide.com/resources
