The Physician Grind is a narrative medicine forum where healthcare providers can share the good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly of medicine. We hope that by sharing stories healthcare providers can get the added psychological benefit of getting things off of their chests and also learn from each others’ experiences. For both healthcare providers and non-healthcare providers we hope that sharing these stories will move, entertain and even inspire people. For the purpose of this contest we are accepting essays, journal entries, poems, or artwork. Please contact email@example.com if there is another medium you would like to submit. Since this piece of work is personal, there is no word limit.
Submissions to the contest will remain the property of the author. Intellectual property rights are retained by the author. The work can be submitted to other publications. All that is asked is that links to publication on the Physician Grind are included in any future publications. Previously published work can be submitted as long as it does not violate the terms and agreements of the original publication. The editors of the Physician Grind retain the right to make edits prior to publication on The Physician Grind, http://www.blog.numose.com/ . These edits will be sent to the author for final approval prior to publication.
Any work submitted may be published, in whole or part, on the Physician Grind.

As a result the pieces submitted must be compliant with the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act. The submissions (without author information) for the contest will be reviewed by a panel of judges. Each judge will independently score the piece. The scores will be tallied and the submission with the highest score will be awarded the winner. In the event of a tie, the tying submissions will be reassessed and rescored by the judges. The final winner will be awarded the prize. There can be no requests to have the submissions rescored once the winner has been declared. The results of the scores will be kept confidential. The author of the winning submission will be notified via e-mail and the winning submission will be published on the Physician Grind with a designation that it was the winning piece in our contest.
