Nicotine pouches, a newer commercial tobacco product, contain a crystalline powder with nicotine, flavorings (including fruit, mint or candy) and other additives.
They have recently gained attention over concerns that their flavors and trendy social media marketing campaigns are particularly tempting to young users. Between 2019 and 2022, there has been a 641% increase in sales of these products; however, study found that use in the US remains low at 0.4% of US adults reporting regular use, while 2.9% had tried it at least once. However, this low rate could be due to high use in adolescents, who were not part of the survey group.
