THC Urine Drug Screens

In today’s pearl we’ll review urine drug screens for marijuana.

  • Most of the metabolites of THC are excreted in feces.

  • THC is metabolized into 11-COOH-THC which is excreted in the urine and detected in UDS.

  • CBD does not metabolize to 11-COOH-THC. As a result CBD products, which generally have a very low THC:CBD ratio are not detected on UDS.

  • Infrequent users may have positive UDS for 3 days.

  • Due to the THC that is stored in the body tissues, chronic heavy users may be detectable for 30 days or longer.

  • A positive immunoassay does not indicate acute intoxication
